Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville Internship

From September to December, I worked as a marketing intern at the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Jacksonville. I had quite a few responsibilities, but my main job was posting and creating content for all the Ronald McDonald House's social media pages. I was responsible for creating engaging content that would make our followers want to participate or take notice of anything our charity was working on at the moment. I had to be sure to tag and give appropriate thanks to any people that were mentioned on posts. Some of my first tasks were creating awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month during September. I created encouraging flyers that were placed around the House for the children staying there to see and highlighted on social media the hashtag #JaxGoesGold for the month. I created posts for our Marathon for Charity Challenge, which was a virtual run that people could choose which charity to run for. The rest of my internship was mainly spent creating awareness and encouraging people to participate in our holiday fundraisers. Those fundraisers included our Deck the Doors campaign, Holiday Cook-a-Thon, Light Up the House Virtual 5K, and Light Up the House Night.  All of which was promoted through social media and took place in December. Besides working on content for social media, I also made changes to the website when needed, such as adding new board members' names to the site.  I also created personalized videos to encourage companies to join in our campaigns that were sent individually. Because of COVID-19, all of my work for this internship was done virtually and from home. I was able to create content without actually being at the House just by taking some direction and guide from my supervisor. I learned to use sites such as Canva to create images and graphics and Hootsuite to plan and schedule social media posts. I had an amazing experience working at the Ronald McDonald House and felt my work meant something, as my job was to engage people in helping the children and families at our House.

This post to the left was created to show how much of our fundraising goal we have reached so far.

The post on the right was created to highlight our top fundraisers, both groups and individuals, during our Deck the Doors campaign.

I used Canva to create both images and posted with the text on to FaceBook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.

This post was created to encourage people to sign up for our Holiday Cook-a-thon, which was a virtual cooking class. I again used Canva to create this image and wanted post it during a time that people may be starting to think about holiday plans and cooking.

This was a post I created for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. I was sent the pictures of the bridges and created the graphic for the post. I had to be sure to tag all the partners of Home Team Jax.

This screenshot was taken from Facebook analytics. I learned to use to insights like this and more to see which posts were most popular. This screenshot showed results from the November 8th to December 5th.

Below are more examples of some posts I created
